AC turns 8

It is so hard to believe that AC turned 8.  I got to sing Happy Birthday with her friends at Yogurt Lab.

Alabama Museum and Unclaimed Baggage

We toured the Alabama Museum in Ft Payne.  It just reminded me that "My Home is in Alabama".
Our next stop was the Unclaimed Baggage store in Scottsboro.  The best find of the day was the long rack of West African clothes for men and ladies.  It is hard to imagine that travelers don't try to get their belongings back when they lose them.
It was wonderful to get to spend time with these precious ladies.

Beautiful day

The day was absolutely perfect for our day of walking.  We were able to see so much of the beautiful outdoors.  The girls enjoyed seeing the First Lady's dresses at the American Museum most of all.  They liked the Air and Space Museum.  We went to the National Archives.  The carousel ride provided some fun during all the walking.  We had such a great time.

Lots to see in DC

Our first stop was the white house.  The girls got their picture made at W33 which is the page on the Vietnam wall where Uncle Larry's name is listed.  They were most excited about seeing the Lincoln Memorial.  The cherry trees were in full bloom as we walked near the tidal basin.  I was surprised that they are white and not pink.  I always thought that the pictures that I have seen have been pink.   Now I know.

National Zoo

On Saturday, four of the cousins got to go to the National Zoo in DC.  The favorite animal was the panda.  The male lion was very impressive.  The most entertaining was the orangutan who was able to walk the high wires between the two buildings where he lives. In the afternoon, D, M and E went back to Cville while the minivan headed for Arlington.
